Getting started
Open ironvaleidle.com/play and your adventurer sets off. There's nothing you have to click. The autopilot picks what to train, where to go and what to save for, and you get back to work. This page covers accounts, saves, devices, and what happens while you're away.
Guest or signed in
| Guest | Signed in | |
|---|---|---|
| Account | None | Google, or a sign-in link by email (the account button, top right) |
| Your save | In this browser only | In your account, saved continuously; also kept in the browser |
| Devices | This browser | Any, one at a time |
| Play time limit | None | 72 hours in the time bank when you sign in; then it follows your finished work |
| Leaderboards | Read only | Optional, under a public name you choose |
You can play as a guest for as long as you like and sign in later: your guest save becomes your account's first save.
Saves
- The game saves every few seconds, and again when you close or hide the tab. There's no save button to forget.
- The Saves button in the game's header lists recent backups, restores one, and exports or imports your save as text. Use export to move a guest save to another browser.
- Signed in, your account keeps the save and a few earlier copies. Clearing your browser doesn't lose it.
One device at a time
Only one copy of the game plays at once, so your character never splits in two. Open a second tab and it shows Playing in another tab; signed in on a second device, it shows Playing on another device. Press Play here instead to move the game to where you are: the other one saves and pauses.
If two devices both played without a connection, the game asks which save should continue, and shows both.
Time away
Close the tab and come back later: the time you were away is replayed through the real game, so your adventurer did exactly what they would have done with the tab open. A short "You were away" screen catches up, then a summary shows what was gained.
- Up to 7 days away is replayed exactly; anything longer is estimated from the rates of that replay.
- If you've connected a work source, time away only runs as far as your play time does. Out of play time your adventurer is asleep, and the world waits for them. See How play time works.
- When a new version of the game is out, a small banner offers a reload. Your adventurer carries on exactly where they were.
